The one thing that really makes your life worth living is the people in it. Without these wonderful “water aerobics” ladies, my mornings would be far less exciting. We meet most weekday mornings at 9, poolside. Besides the encouragement, tips on exercise and healthy recipes, there is also a great deal of caring that takes place. We do care about each other and share in the joys and sorrows. This has been such a blessing in my life. No matter where I go in life from here, I will never forget my “ladies of the water”. Somehow, I will find a way to come back and visit, often. If there’s one thing I have learned about true friends, it is that we do not need to talk every day to stay in each other’s lives. When we need that time to share, we somehow reconnect even if we haven’t spoken for over a year. As I was writing this, my good friend Brenda, who I haven’t spoken to in at least a year, called to talk. You can’t imagine how uplifting that conversation was. We realized at the end of our talk, God was definitely in this for both of us.

Having friends with a focus such as water aerobics, bridge, music, whatever …..provide perspective on other opportunities that “crop up” in your life. Good friends and a creative focus make life worth living. That’s what I’ve found to be true in my life these past 21 years since Roger’s death.
